Sessions for Homed Educated Children aged 5-11 - The Voles
What are we all about?
Our Forest School Fridays for 5 to 11 year-olds who are home educated takes place at the River Camp at Hakeford Woods. As the names suggest there is lots of river play and adventuring in the woods. The location allows space for valuable imaginative play and learning through doing which helps children to make friends, practice their communication skills and develop emotional resilience. The sessions are run by trained Forest School Leaders, Iona Dowling and Lucy Little. Between us we have years of experience working with children and young people in a wide variety of settings, often working with children with specific needs. We do our best to be guided by what interests the children who come whilst we also prepare and resource sessions guided by nature’s rhythms. Our activities include wide games, crafting, building, exploring, cooking, storytelling and learning about our flora and fauna; all designed to encourage engagement with the natural world.
